CMS; Common Man Stan
Always looking forward to this part of the day, BRUNCH during weekends! There is just so much love for brunch!
Located at Telok Ayer, the interior of the cafe is so highly- well designed. Basically Classy. I could only say, even though it's classy, it was quite crowded too. That day we went, i wasn't able to get much pictures of the inside.
It was quite a manageable weather i say, so we decided to hang outside of the cafe + natural lighting are always the best. (smirks)
Isn't the cafe classy?
Just a table full of food. So we had CMS's big breakfast, Marmite Mushroom, Umami fries. When ordering the CMS's big breakfast, I had the waiter asking if i'm sure of ordering it as well as if i had seen the portion of the food.
I HAD NO CLUE of how it looks like but im pretty sure i'm able to finish it hahah.
Introducing CMR full breakfast: two egg, bacon, pork sausage, pesto tomatoes, veggie rosti,
mint sour cream, mushrooms & chorizo baked beans with toast
To be honest, i was able to finish everything on the plate except the beans. I dont really like the taste of baked beans.
- Poached eggs were well boiled, runny eggs are my favourite!
- I wouldn't recommend sour dough. The toast are of your own choice. 3 choices only to be exact.
- Pork sausage isn't too salty nor oily.
- Bacon is TOO oily. I had to keep drinking coffee to quench the thirst.
- Mushrooms are well marinated.
- Pesto tomatoes are fresh, like it's crunchy!
- veggie rosti doesnt taste that flavorful yet a little dry but alright, not too bad.
Moving on to the next dish: Marmite Mushrooms, on avocado toast topped with chilli flakes & micro-greens
- Mushrooms are well marinated mushrooms, quite flavorful and juicy.
- Loads of avocado on the toast. Really generous.
- Additional scrambled eggs are creamy, soft and melty.
- Still a sour dough, not really a fan of sourdough.
There was less variety of side dish so we decided to order the Umami fries: miso mayo & ramen seasoning.
- Comes in a big portion.
- Fries are not soggy.
- However, because there was alot of fries, we feel that the sauce was not much. I feel that they could put it on a small saucer dish.
I, myself, ordered two cups of coffee; a slow Ethiopia ice brew and one flat white. Super overly caffeinated but i totally needed it.
Well filtered, amazingly it isn't too acidic or does it taste diluted. I gotta say, on a humid weather like this, an ice brew cures everything.
As for the flatwhite, even mix of milk and smooth down the throat.
Overall, no harm coming down to try the rest of the dishes. There's a whole lot of menu that is tempting enough!! Or you could head down to Somerset, Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) if you think it might be crowded over at Telok ayer hehe.
